Celebrate the August Candlelight Christmas Walk in Augusta - Missouri

Over 1,000 luminaries light your way throughout Historic Augusta, Missouri the first two Friday nights of December from 5 to ten PM.  This annual event has more than a twenty-five year history and has evolved into a ritual for the Augusta community to sponsor.  A free Trolley service will carry you through town to tour the many shops and antique stores, wine producers and brewers, diners and food courts, discover unique artwork such as hand-blown glass, paintings, and jewelry, just a few of northeast Missouri tourism attractions.

The area churches can help get you into the holiday cheer with Christmas songs and encourage you to join along or simply relax in their church sanctuary under a large Christmas tree.  The town square can heighten your holiday spirit with a horse drawn sleigh ride around the center of town, a toasty bon fire with Chestnuts roasting and marshmallows toasting, and Santa Claus waiting to listen to you Christmas wish-list.

The season enthusiast may enjoy the excitement of our Holiday Scavenger Hunt with a Christmas challenge and an night awash with gathering items from all the shops.  You can turn your answers at our History Museum and register for gifts from our area merchants.

You can easily relax by appreciating our band at Mount Pleasant Winery with a glass of wine; spend the night at dinner with friends at Café Bella, Augusta Brewing Company, Ashley’s Rose or Balducci’s; receive a therapeutic massage at Halcyon or they can shop till you drop at a various of specialty shops and antique stores.

Experience the holiday season in Augusta, Missouri on one of the first two Fridays of December with the annual Candlelight Christmas Walk.  The Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce hosts this event each year and visitors will feel the Christmas spirit throughout the town.  We suggest you make your Bed & Breakfast reservations early, before all the rooms are reserved. The event starts at 5 PM and continue until ten PM with over 1,000 luminaries illuminating your way across the village. 

A free Trolley shuttle is on hand to help you tour of all the wineries, brewery, and restaurants.  You will find original artwork with paintings at Augusta Wood, unusual jewelry at Wine Road boutiques and hand-blown glass by local artist Sam Stang at his studio in town.  Stoneledge antiques and the Augusta Emporium will take you back to yester years with a vintage collection of antiques and fun items from the past.  Purely Provence sells home embellishments and holiday décor, and Good Life Goods has gift baskets inspired by faith, hope and love.  These are a few of the Missouri travel attractions you will discover

Mount Pleasant winery hosts a no-cost concert and don’t miss the warm mulled-spiced vintage at Augusta Winery.  Our brewery has a fantastic selection of micro-brews and meals.  Halcyon spa offers free chair massage to relax you throughout the hustle and bustle of the season.  The restaurants and food stands will curb your hunger with specials and homemade food.  Attactions include St. Nick, horse drawn sleigh rides, children activites at the library, Christmas caroling at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, our Town Historian, the History Museum, a Scavenger Hunt and many new businesses.
