Rome History
Tradition claims that the town of Rome was set up in the mid-eighth century BC by Romulus and Remus, the twin brothers the sons of Mars and Rhea Silvia. The traditional date of the official founding of Rome goes back to 21 April 753 BC. The ancient town was created through a progressive meeting of towns, built on the famous seven hills, in a single village inhabited by the Romans. From the geographical viewpoint the Old Rome was placed on giant flat areas, swampy valleys and hills lapped by the stream Tiber.

Roman society was clearly divided into social classes. At the top were classy Romans, called patricians. They had many rights and lived lives of luxury.
