The start of our parade from Oakland Avenue UMC to Asbury UMC, .75 mile away.
Baptismal font brought from Oakland to the New Congregation
The cross, candlesticks and baptismal font from Oakland Church were brought by boat (on a trailer) to the New Congregation at 4501 Bloomington Ave., Minneapolis.
Signs shared our values
Traffic Control
Safety during the march was very important. Mark Stehlik (on bike) and Minneapolis police helped avert accidents.
World Drummers in parade
Some members of the World Drumming Ensemble and friends rode in a trailer and kept the "beat" going during the parade.
Bikes had signs, too
Members of the New Congregation's Bike Group rode in the parade (or walked their bikes in places.)
We arrive at home of the New Congregation
We unpacked items and carried our signs into the building.
Marchers arrive
Marchers carried their signs past a "covered up" sign of Asbury UMC; we are waiting for a new name for the New Congregation.
Volt Vette
A Corvette converted to run on electric power was part of our parade. It belongs to one of our church's members and demonstrates our support of energy conservation and sustainable resources.
We arrive at the home of the New Congregation
The parade ended at the present home of the New Congregation, 4501 Bloomington Ave. S., Minneapolis (the Asbury UMC building). We carried our signs and banners and baptismal font inside to continue our worship and celebrate the move.
